2010 Rules and Guidelines
for conference participants

All registered participants of the Las Cruces International Mariachi Conference remain subject to the rules and guidelines of their respective schools and of the LCIMC while at the conference. Group directors and chaperones are responsible for their students at all times.

ALCOHOL/DRUGS:
Under-age students who consume or are under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs at any time during the conference will be asked to leave the conference on the first violation.

SMOKING AND TOBACCO PRODUCTS:
Smoking and the use of any tobacco product are not allowed by anyone at anytime during the conference. Students are prohibited from smoking during the entire time they are at the conference—including at their hotels.

CELL PHONES AND PAGERS:
Students must maintain all cell phones and pagers on silence mode during all workshop activities and classes. In the event of an emergency, parents should contact group directors or chaperoning adults

IDENTIFICATION BADGES AND LCIMC WRISTBANDS:
Identification badges and LCIMC Wristbands must be worn at all times. Badges and wristbands must remain visible and not obscured at all times during the conference. Under no circumstances should students switch badges with each other.

PERSONAL BELONGINGS:
All students will be responsible for their own personal belongings including instruments, backpacks, purses, and all conference registration material.

ATTENDANCE AT CONFERENCE EVENTS:
Students are expected to attend all scheduled conference events. Group directors should make every effort to assure that their students arrive to their scheduled workshops and events on time.

DRESS CODE:

  • Bare midriffs, bare backs, see-through blouses, blouses with excessively low neck lines are not permitted.
  • Tank shirts are not permitted.
  • Clothing displaying obscene language, alcohol/drug promoting language, profanity, and promiscuity is not allowed.
  • Conference attendees should wear attire that follows the dress guidelines of their respective schools.

SAFETY:

  • Students will not place themselves or others in deliberately dangerous situations.
  • Students must not leave the NMSU campus unless accompanied by a director or chaperone.

THEATRE ETIQUETTE:

  • Food and beverage are not allowed inside theaters or workshop areas.
  • Conference attendees must not run or push others in lobbies or theater areas.
  • When entering a theater or workshop, students should take their seats as quickly as possible.
  • Appropriate classroom and theater etiquette is expected of all conference attendees.
  • Students should never leave a workshop or theater except in emergency situations.
  • Cell phones must be set on silence mode when in the theater, classroom or workshop activity.

WORKSHOP ETIQUETTE:
Students and adults attending workshops are to be respectful and courteous to workshop presenters at all times. Those attending workshops are expected to be highly participatory and attentive. Students should never leave a workshop before it has ended.

ILLNESS:

  • Group directors and chaperones are responsible for ill students.
  • Students should contact their director or a LCIMC representative upon an illness.
  • Paramedics may be called for ill students at the student’s expense.
  • If needed, student may be sent to nearby hospitals at the student’s expense.

VISITORS:
Only registered conference students, directors, chaperones and conference workers are allowed to attend conference workshop activities.

NOTICE:
The Las Cruces International Mariachi Conference reserves the right to amend and/or institute at any time any necessary rules or regulations that may or may not be stipulated here in providing for the safety and general welfare of the conference attendees.

VIOLATIONS OF RULES AND GUIDELINES:
Any student who violates a rule or guideline will be directed to his/her group director or chaperones. Group directors or chaperones may be asked to revoke the identification badge of any student or adult who is in violation of LCIMC Conference Guidelines.
